The functions, duties and powers of the Monitoring Committee shall be as under:-

(a) One for each Village Development Committee and one for every 30,000 population in each municipal area. Choosing a cooperative organization to operate a shop at the rate of one (b) Determine and make available the essential daily consumables to be sold by the shop,
(c) determining and co-ordinating quotas for the selection of limited available items,
(d) To check the quality of essential daily consumables,
(e) To identify and encourage public and private organizations that want to market their goods and services through fair value shops,
(f) To monitor cooperative societies operating shops,
(G) To give necessary suggestions and instructions to the cooperative organization operating the shop,
(h) To carry out promotional and facilitation work to operate the shop,
(j) To pay the subsidy amount provided by the Government of Nepal and supervise its use (j) To give support and suggestions to the committee to implement the ration card system (k) To implement and apply the decisions and instructions of the committee.
